Ideas for our film Opening
For our film opening me, Zach & Luke have decided we want to make a chase scene opening, hopefully following the conventions of a Thriller. We want it to be as realistic as we can make it, this will be achived by using alot of stedicam handheld.
Good example of a steadicam technique we would use in a chase sequence.

Preliminary task evaluation
first of all I thought that me, Zach & Luke worked very well as a amateur film crew. trying to find a location for our short seen proved to be quite difficult due to several factors, 1.) some places had too much background noise and made trying to record dialogue tricky 2.) In some shots there was to much background movement, for example if we filmed in the common room, its likely people wouldn't stay in the same place, so when we filmed over the shoulder shots, people would just appear and re-appear whenever. But eventually we found our location, the main library, we could film our sequence with relative ease and not have to think about background noise and extras. Next came the filming itself, we borrowed several cameras from the library, not because we were greedy but because half of them didn't work! but we managed to make do. Within the library a scene would take place where me and Luke engaged in riveting dialogue whilst Zach filmed all of the necessary shots, such as shot reverse shot, over the shoulder shot (180 degree rule) and some wide shots.
Next came the editing, perhaps easier said than done, but with the help of a simple guideline we managed to stich our film together, into a masterpiece in my opinion. I think with a couple more editing tasks I will become quite slick with the iMovie on the mac.

Preliminary Task
For our preliminary task we had to produce a short film(only a couple minutes long) for media studies. Th task was to film some characters whilst useing several different camera angles and techniques, for example we used shot reverse shot, wide angle shot, over the shoulder shot (keeping to the 180 degree rule and some others.
The filming itself was relatively easy but we had several technical difficulties with the cameras, but after that was out the way we could do what needed to be done.
Next came the trickiest part, the editing. I had never used iMovie before and neither had my partners, but we got the jist of it eventually.
Our finished product is something I'm really proud of and I hope we get all the right marks.
